For membrane structures, the tearing performance is an issue that requires significant attention.

All scraped fabrics must stretch their curled molecular chains during structural installation, and the degree of extension of the fabric in the weft direction is much greater than in the warp direction. We must have a good grasp of these values, which is the basis for the pre-shrinkage of film cutting. Usually these data can be obtained from the material manufacturer.

Tensile strength, that is, the ability to resist load, must be high enough. Generally, the tensile strength of PVC-coated polyester filament and PTFE-coated glass fiber materials can be more than 10 tons/meter. The higher the modulus, the easier it is for the film to be cut and shaped and pre-tensioned. Polyester filament fabric has a moderate modulus and is easy to use. Its elongation is not a problem from the positioning of the structure boundary point, unless a large amount of snow load acts on it. The glass fiber fabric has a high modulus. The membrane structure of the carport, if the membrane material does not match the size of the structure, the tension (or installation) curvature of the membrane material changes will be very dangerous.
