Under the action of external load, the stress in one direction of the membrane increases and the stress in the other direction decreases. This requires the initial tensile stress to be applied to the extent that the stress does not decrease to zero under the most unfavorable load, that is, no wrinkles appear. Because the membrane material is relatively soft and the natural vibration frequency is very low, it is easy to produce wind vibration under the action of wind load, resulting in damage to the membrane material. If the initial prestress is applied too high, the membrane material will become larger, easy to age and have less strength reserves. The strength requirements of the stressed members are also high, which increases the difficulty of construction and installation. Therefore, the initial prestress must be determined through load calculation. The touch structure formed by form-finding analysis is usually a three-dimensional non-developable surface.
