With the continuous rise of membrane structure buildings, membrane structure projects are also spread all over the country. Every step becomes particularly important in membrane structural engineering. A complete membrane structure project is divided into several parts, from design, analysis, cutting, production, and installation are all key. Today we come to analyze the engineering characteristics of membrane structure.
The characteristics of membrane structure engineering as a building system mainly depend on its unique form and the performance of the membrane material itself. Because of this, the use of membrane structures can create design solutions that cannot be achieved by traditional building systems. We look at the characteristics of membrane structural engineering from several aspects.
1. Lightweight: The reason for the low self-weight of the tension structure of the membrane material is that it depends on the prestressed form rather than the material to maintain the stability of the structure. As a result, its own weight is much smaller than that of traditional building structures, but it has good stability. Architects can use its characteristics of light weight and large span to design and organize detailed structural components to unify its light and stable structural characteristics organically.
Second, light transmission: Light transmission is one of the most widely recognized characteristics of modern film structures. The light transmittance of the film can provide the required brightness for the building, which is very important for building energy saving. It is especially important for commercial buildings that require more light and high brightness. Through the comprehensive utilization of natural and artificial lighting, the transparency of the membrane can provide greater aesthetic creative space for architectural design. At night, the translucency transforms the membrane structure into a light sculpture. The light transmittance of the film is determined by its base layer fibers, coating and its color. The spectral transmittance of standard films is between 10% and 20%. Some films can reach 40%, while others are opaque. The transparency of the film and the choice of light color can be adjusted by the color of the coating or the color of the surface layer.
3. Flexibility: The tensile membrane structure is not rigid, and it will deform under the action of wind or snow load. The membrane structure adapts to external loads through deformation. In this process, the radius of curvature of the membrane surface in the direction of the load will decrease until it can more effectively resist the load.
