Describe the definition and classification of membrane structures

Membrane structure is one of the first new building structure methods. Its origin is so long that it is almost impossible to calculate. The membrane structure is made up of a variety of high-strength film materials and reinforcing members (steel frame, steel column or steel cable) through a certain method to generate a certain pre-tensioning stress inside to form a certain spatial shape, and can accept a certain external load. Classification of membrane structures: According to different structural methods, membrane structures can be divided into three categories: skeleton membrane structures, inflatable membrane structures and tensioned membrane structures.


 
1. Skeleton membrane structure: It is a structural method in which membrane materials are laid on the framework of steel frames or other materials to form the roof or outer wall. Modeling includes plane shape, single-curved shape and hyperbolic shape represented by saddle shape.
2. Inflatable membrane structure: It is a structural method that injects air into the room composed of the membrane structure, and insists that the pressure of the indoor air is always greater than the pressure of the outdoor air, so that the membrane material is under tension to resist the load and external force. There are two methods of single-layer structure and double-layer structure.
3. Tensile membrane structure: It is a structural method that the membrane material is stretched on the structure through a cable. The outer surface of the membrane changes its own curvature to reach the balance of internal and external forces.
