In the classification of membrane materials, we are usually divided into three categories, PVC, PVDF, PTFE. The biggest characteristics of PTFE architectural membrane are: light weight, high strength, fire retardant, good self-cleaning, not affected by ultraviolet rays, fatigue resistance, twist resistance, aging resistance, and long service life. It has high light transmittance and little heat absorption. It is precisely because of the invention of this membrane material across times that the membrane structure building has become a modern permanent building.
What is the reason for choosing PTFE membrane material?
1. It has high strength, the thickness of medium strength PTFE membrane is only 0.8mm, but its tensile strength has reached the level of steel, and the modulus of elasticity is low, which is conducive to the formation of complex curved shape of the membrane;
2. Light weight, its weight is only a small part of traditional building materials (approximately equivalent to 1/30 of the weight of the previous steel ceiling).
3. It has stable chemical properties and can withstand the effects of all strong acids including aqua regia, strong oxidants, reducing agents and various organic solvents except molten alkali metals, fluorinated media and sodium hydroxide above 300℃.
4. High self-cleaning, PTFE has the characteristics of non-adhesiveness, waterproofness, etc. The dust and dirt accumulated on the surface will be cleaned after being washed by rain, so as to maintain long-term whiteness.
5. Large-span, PTFE membrane structure buildings generally can cover a large space with membranes without internal supports, and can freely design and use a variety of spaces.
6. Light transmittance, the light transmittance of PTFE membrane is about 13%, and the light inside the building is soft and bright, so that the station does not need to use artificial lighting during the day, which also greatly saves energy consumption, energy saving and environmental protection.
7. Long service life, PTFE membrane material has strong anti-aging ability, good durability, fire resistance and flame retardancy, good self-cleaning, and is not affected by ultraviolet light, and its service life can reach more than 25 years.
